The Happiness of Pursuit by Davis Phinney
The 80s was a magical time for American bicycle racing, it saw the emergence of many cycling stars such as Davis Phinney. His book "The Happiness of Pursuit" gives us the back story and behind the scenes of the 84 Olympic road race, the Tour De France, the Coors Classic and more. Especially interesting was the drama during the 84 Los Angeles Olympics road race.
This is a great book for those who were enamored with the glossy "Winning Magazine" which gave you a colorful insight into bicycle racing. Davis Phinney's book serves to tie up some of the loose ends from that period also it progresses to modern day, with his son, Taylor Phinney's venture into the sport. This book is a great read.
